Enigmas

Have they constituent parts? How shall we know?
- The particles created in a star,
By us considered weird, ours weird enough.

The sky is cloudless at the end of day,
Graded in colours matched by eggs perhaps
Of common birds. What has it to convey?

According to Heisenberg, even scientists
Shudder before the beautiful - and yet
No wonder, since they see it as equations.

And is the cosmos comprehensible?
I mean intrinsically: some might ask
Even by the Author of its strange inventions.

An agitation of the human brain -
Which summons up the ruling principles
Of the universe. Can that be really so?

More likely, many think, a supreme guide
