A LETTER FROM WESTMORLAND TO ISABELLA FEY

Dear Isabella
             Thanks again:
Your card arrives as I return
From autumn and Azania
To an English and cold spring,
And trees alight with April snow
As Eden runs by my window.
Again I answer you in verse
To rehearse a journey to
The other country of my birth
From which I never can depart
Without a tearing of the heart
Strings that tie me lightly to it
