Fra Angelico's Annunciation

He looks as if
she ought to trust him.
They look, in fact,
rather alike,
with their patient faces
and slender shapes.
His cheek is flushed.
He has made a long journey
and the weather
is cold in Heaven.

Perhaps she is
a little dazzled
- envious, even,
in her simple dress,
a blue robe thrown
around her shoulders,
