This poem is taken from PN Review 285, Volume 52 Number 1, September - October 2025.
Wheatfields with Reaper
Thatched Cottages
Merely an ordinary
tumbledown story
of folk and their tall tales.
Blossoming Chestnut Trees
A great chandelier
of candles. Will the gossiping
ladies fall quiet at the light?
The House of Père Pilon
The house is hidden
by a tree which commands
the sky as a halo.
Blossoming Chestnut Branches
Blind bankrupts of storm –
a white-flowered branch
and a pink-flowered spray, still in business.
