Infidelity

That night away Beth thought of her children
and how her husband, John, would put them to bed.

Then through the restaurant window saw the wind
shake down wedding blossom from a cherry tree.

And Tom, through the window saw a telephone booth
and thought of the lies he'd invent for his wife.

And Beth spoke of the alarm signals of hidden birds
