Wild Creeper

The wild creeper noses up
in the air and next to it
a bramble scores its prickled stalks
along the dark clay.

The wild creeper pours
shoots on him, to hide
the bramble's thorns
with shiny milk-bloom.

He stops scratching in
the dark clay, uncranks,
and noses the wild creeper
as she spills on him.

I was a wane-pricked whin
before you loved me,
sweet wild creeper,
