The Two Roads
The fork in the path
Came up before
I was ready to choose;
I found I had taken
The sky road. At first
I could glimpse through thicket
The other lane dipping,
Escorted by water,
Between flowering banks,
Rollered lawns, white stone dwellings.
A turn lost the view.
And what with the rain
Closing in, the unsheltered
Climbing a stony road
Riding blown grass,
It was only attaining
The ridge I could look
