Poems
Wateriness
Silvery shock at slight rain skimming the pond.
A rainbow mirrored in water of forest-green.
Water is essential to life. Without water
we would not have all these paintings of water.
Philosophy
My daughter studies a famous paper
What is it Like to Be a Bat?
while I am wondering
what it’s like to be my daughter.
Cutting
The disused cutting reverts to
a cliff-edge of limestone.
To every crevice its secret
mosses, its redlegged cranesbill.
A chinking within the wall is
betraying the nest of a wagtail.
