Eight Poems

Miles Burrows
1. Tea Dancing in Litzi-Ruti

Young men’s poems may be forgiven.
For the old, there is really no excuse.
I said – Beryl, we don’t want any theatricals.
We stayed at the Grimpenhorn
Close to the skilift.
At Silvesterabend Mr Beilick said I should wear a hat.

Did his impersonation of King Farouk.

I went to a Hungarian in Chester Mews
You know how some people hold on,
Practising tango in the kitchen
But it’s not the same without a partner.

2. Not Too Late
