After Dryden

A few were stirred to witness, though in play,
Love's monomania, deadly for a day,
Shared in a passion that pulled down a pride
And, shaken by the fall, were edified.

Captive spectators, all must now endure
A daily farce, the lines and plot so poor
That those are bored who found disaster funny.
It's called: The World Well Lost - and All for Money.
